How our local viewer works
Select a file
Drag and drop or pick a file. Transfers stay on your device — nothing is uploaded to MetaRemove servers.
Parse metadata only
We read headers, EXIF blocks, PDF info dictionaries, Office properties, or media tags without changing file content.
Review grouped results
Timestamps, authorship, location, device, and technical fields are grouped so you can spot privacy risks quickly.

Frequently asked questions
What image metadata can I view?
EXIF (camera, lens, exposure, GPS), maker notes, XMP/IPTC captions and keywords, ICC profiles, dimensions, orientation, and text chunks in PNG/WEBP/GIF.
Does viewing metadata change my image?
No. We only read headers and metadata blocks — your pixels and color profiles stay untouched.
Why don't I see GPS data on my photo?
If the photo has no GPS tags — or they were stripped by your camera or app — we show everything available, but there may be no location data.
Can I remove EXIF after viewing?
Yes. MetaRemove can strip EXIF, GPS, and camera data from images locally after you create an account.
