Frequently asked questions
What image metadata can I view?
EXIF (camera, lens, exposure, GPS), maker notes, XMP/IPTC captions and keywords, ICC profiles, dimensions, orientation, text chunks in PNG/WEBP/GIF, and C2PA Content Credentials when present.
Does viewing metadata change my image?
No. We only read headers and metadata blocks - your pixels and color profiles stay untouched.
Why don't I see GPS data on my photo?
If the photo has no GPS tags - or they were stripped by your camera or app - we show everything available, but there may be no location data.
Does Claude add C2PA to images?
Claude and other generative tools can attach Content Credentials on export. This viewer flags that C2PA container when it exists. It does not detect pixel watermarks such as SynthID.
Can I remove EXIF after viewing?
Yes. MetaRemove can strip EXIF, GPS, camera data and C2PA from supported stills locally after you create an account.
