How our local viewer works
Select a file
Drag and drop or pick a file. Transfers stay on your device — nothing is uploaded to MetaRemove servers.
Parse metadata only
We read headers, EXIF blocks, PDF info dictionaries, Office properties, or media tags without changing file content.
Review grouped results
Timestamps, authorship, location, device, and technical fields are grouped so you can spot privacy risks quickly.
What metadata can you view?
- Document Info fields: title, author, subject, keywords
- Producer and creator applications
- Creation and modification dates in PDF-date format
- XMP packages including custom fields and PDF/A indicators
- Security and permission flags when present
Frequently asked questions
What PDF metadata can I view?
The legacy Info dictionary (/Title, /Author, /Subject, /Keywords, /Creator, /Producer, /CreationDate, /ModDate) and the XMP metadata stream when present.
Does this modify my PDF?
No. The viewer only reads properties — content, pages, and comments are not changed.
Can PDF metadata leak personal info?
Yes. The /Author field often defaults to your OS username, and dates may include timezone hints. Review before sharing externally.
Can I remove PDF metadata after viewing?
Yes. MetaRemove removes author, comments, and document properties from PDF files with a subscription.
