Frequently asked questions
Is this metadata viewer safe to use?
Yes. Files are processed locally in your browser and never uploaded to our servers. We do not retain your content.
Does this work for EXIF data?
Absolutely - if your image has EXIF (camera, GPS, timestamps), we surface it clearly alongside other metadata.
Can this reveal where a photo was taken?
If GPS tags exist, we show the coordinates. If no GPS tags exist, there is no location information to display.
Do files from Claude include Content Credentials?
Some generative tools, including Claude, can attach a C2PA / Content Credentials container when they export a file. This viewer reports whether that container is present. It does not read pixel watermarks.
Can metadata be wrong?
Metadata can be edited or stripped, so treat it as helpful context rather than guaranteed truth.
Looking to remove metadata instead?
Use MetaRemove's paid tools to strip EXIF, GPS, author, device metadata and C2PA from supported stills and MP4 after signup.
