Frequently asked questions
Is this metadata viewer safe to use?
Yes. Files are processed locally in your browser and never uploaded to our servers. We do not retain your content.
Does this work for EXIF data?
Absolutely — if your image has EXIF (camera, GPS, timestamps), we surface it clearly alongside other metadata.
Can this reveal where a photo was taken?
If GPS tags exist, we show the coordinates. If no GPS tags exist, there is no location information to display.
Can metadata be wrong?
Metadata can be edited or stripped, so treat it as helpful context rather than guaranteed truth.
Looking to remove metadata instead?
Use MetaRemove's paid tools to strip EXIF, GPS, author, and device metadata from images, videos, and documents after signup.
